ETC is celebrating a decade of brilliance with the 10th anniversary of three of ETC's most popular products: the Source Four luminaire, Sensor dimming and the Obsession control console.
The Source Four anniversary with the record sale of the one-millionth Source Four line luminaire. ETC celebrated this milestone with a "golden prize": a collection of Source Fours for each of four lucky winners. Earlier this summer, four gold-wrapped Source Fours were placed in four orders shipping out worldwide. The first two winners have surfaced: Mr. He Shou Fung from RGB in China and the theatre department of Evansville High School in Evansville, Wl, USA.
Suspense is growing about the whereabouts of the final two golden winners!
The Source Four is the only luminaire to combine the energy-saving power of the HPL lamp with the patented dichroic reflector for the coolest beam around. It is used in venues all over the world, including Akademitheater, Vienna; Moulin Rouge (the film); Channel 5 News Studio, London; various West End shows, London and in more than 95% of Вroadway shows.
While ETC has also been celebrating a decade of Sensor dimming, London's 6000th Sensor dimming channel was installed at the Central School of Speech and Drama this winter. Other recent Sensor installations include Urbis, Manchester; Armani Teatro, Milan; HOT TV, all over Europe; Royal Danish Theatre, Copenhagen; Gothenburg City Theatre and Legoland Deutschland.
The Obsession II control console was designed with professionals in mind and makes the most complex lighting controls possible. The Obsession ll can be found in major opera houses, musical productions and TV studios around the world, including Friedrichstadt Palast, Berlin; Worthing Pavilion and the current UK Tour of Chicago. For the Moscow production of Chicago, which opens in September, Russian dealer Kino Proekt is installing three racks of 96-channel Sensor dimmers, an Obsession II control console and ETCNet2 DMX Nodes in Moscow's Variete Theatre. Kino Proekt's Alexander Rubin is seen below, left, with LD Ken Billington on the London set of the show, where they met to discuss the lighting plot for Moscow.
The evolution of brilliance
"In my opinion, the ETC Source Four is by far the best conventional theatre light. It is a global standard and has replaced the Pattern 23 as the most useful light ever!" Hugh Vanstone, Lighting Designer, Bombay Dreams.
"The Obsession is my favourite console, because of its ease of operation, its speed and functions - it's the desk of choice of New York lighting designers." Ken Billington, Lighting Designer on all Chicago productions since it opened on Bradway in 1996.
