The Water Screen in Astana
The Administration of Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, decided to create on Ishim river an entertainment area for the townspeople and visitors of capital based on cine projection complex generating huge pictures in the middle of the river on screen made of water dust. As main contractor the English company PBDS was selected and the project was developed by group of engineers - Tony Clinick (UK), Alexander Rubin ("Kino-Proekt Engineering" Russia), Martin Kapp (UK), Sam Woodward (UK). The project was supported by several partner companies - LCI (UK), Outline (Italy), Coemar (Italy), Link (Italy). The installation was carried out by "Kino-Proekt Engineering". The operation of the equipment was complicated by inclement climatic conditions. The complex could work daily (in the dark time) only during the warm part of the year. In cold season, from October till May, all equipment had to be demounted and stored in a warm warehouse. To solve this problem and provide the appropriate mobility all the equipment was placed in 20-feet containers. The developed system allowed conducting spectacular shows with video projection up to 25 meters in height on the water screen, laser animation and spatial laser effects, as well as pyrotechnic effects. Naturally, the shows were accompanied by powerful sound.
