The International Film Festival of Cinema Debuts 2003
February, 28 2003 - The Board of the Russian National Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences has recognized "Spirit of Fire", The First International Festival of Cinema Debuts, as a major event in the international festival movement and the most significant event in life of young generation of cinematographers. The festival was conducted on October 24, 2002 under High patronage of the Government of Hanty-Mansijskij Autonomous Region, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The Department of Culture and Art of the autonomous region has recognized "Kino-Projekt Engineering" as a winner of the closed competitive tender to delivery of the cinema technological equipment for the festival areas. This contract demanded deep and serious engineering study of the complex of sound and film projection equipment. The technology of the elevating screen (14 å 5.85 m) was developed and made a reality. The design was based on Harkness Hall Matt+ screen and for sound reinforcement the mobile sound equipment set was used - based on Outline B-215 and S-218 loudspeakers - which allowed transformation of the screen area within 3 to 4 minutes to a theatre stage for concerts and festive events. The screen frame was developed and manufactured by "Kino-Projekt Engineering". It can be lifted using 3 ChainMaster winches, Germany. For those cases when removing the screen was not required a special multiplane sliding curtain was constructed and built (fabric - Gerriets, Germany, curtain guides - NIKFI, Russia, winch - Verlinde, Germany). The film spooling is carried out using Neumade make-up tables. For film transportation film projectors are combined with NXP-3000 Neumade 3-disc platters. Normally, the film after finishing its demonstration in the Main Hall, plus a small break (sometimes 10 to 15 minutes), was transferred to the Small hall or in Cinema & Video Centre. To keep the planned tight schedule it was decided to use the following technology: the films are not dismounted but securely fixed with special appliances, such as Switchroes, Ernemann and transferred to another platter.
